 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Lake Travis High School boys' basketball coach Jan
 Jernberg retired in May 2011, drawing to a close a distinguished
 career in education that spanned three and a half decades; and
 WHEREAS, Jan Jernberg graduated from Alamo Heights High
 School in San Antonio in 1965 and went on to further his education
 at St. Mary's University, North Texas State University, and Pan
 American University; he began his teaching and coaching career in
 Frisco in 1970 and has taught English, history, health, physical
 education, and recreation in addition to serving as a coach; and
 WHEREAS, Over the course of his 14-season tenure at Lake
 Travis High, Coach Jernberg led the Cavaliers to unprecedented
 success, reaching the regional round of the playoffs five times and
 going all the way to the state tournament final four in 2010; his
 efforts that year were honored with the 4A Coach of the Year award;
 and
 WHEREAS, Coach Jernberg's extensive list of accomplishments
 also includes an overall record of 667 wins and 433 losses,
 including a 302-135 mark at Lake Travis, and his teams made 21 trips
 to the postseason; and
 WHEREAS, In retirement, Coach Jernberg looks forward to
 spending more time with his family, including his six
 grandchildren, and he plans to stay active as a member of the board
 of the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches; and
 WHEREAS, Jan Jernberg's basketball expertise and his ability
 to educate and inspire students have enabled him to make a positive
 difference in the lives of hundreds of young people, and he may
 indeed reflect with pride on his many achievements as a coach and
 teacher; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Coach Jan
 Jernberg on his retirement from Lake Travis High School and extend
 to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Coach Jernberg as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
