H.R. No. 36 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, David Richter has been inducted into the Corpus Christi Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of South Texas; and WHEREAS, A worldwide, nonprofit organization, Junior Achievement is committed to educating young people about free enterprise and entrepreneurship and fostering financial literacy; the organization's Corpus Christi Business Hall of Fame recognizes local individuals who have achieved excellence in their field and who have demonstrated vision and innovation, inspiring leadership, and community mindedness; and WHEREAS, David Richter is the president of Richter Architects, an award-winning architectural design and planning firm that he co-owns with his wife, Elizabeth Chu Richter; he has made his mark in his community with his innovative yet functional designs for numerous projects, including the Corpus Christi YWCA, the Del Mar College Fine Arts Center, the Water Street Market, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and the addition to the Greenwood Branch of the Corpus Christi Public Library; and WHEREAS, Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mr. Richter moved to the Corpus Christi area with his family while he was in elementary school; he graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1974, and in 1995 he was elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows, one of the highest honors that the organization can bestow on a member; a past president of the Texas Society of Architects, he is certified as a green builder through the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program with the U.S. Green Building Council; and WHEREAS, Through his exceptional creativity and dedication to meeting his clients' needs, David Richter has made a significant contribution to his community, and he is indeed worthy of this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate David Richter on his induction into the Corpus Christi Business Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Richter as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
