 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The city of San Antonio lost a beloved resident with
 the death of Steven F. Gehrlein on May 9, 2011, at the age of 61; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 28, 1949,
 to Walter and Frances Gehrlein, Steve Gehrlein moved to San Antonio
 with his family as a child; after graduating from Edison High School
 in 1967, he served as a patrol officer with the San Antonio Police
 Department while attending St. Mary's University, where he earned a
 bachelor's degree in 1974; he later worked with the Missouri
 Pacific Railroad as a railroad engineer; and
 WHEREAS, A highly skilled mechanic, Mr. Gehrlein left the
 Missouri Pacific in the late 1970s and bought a Texaco station; that
 venture proved so successful that he acquired a larger location in
 1984 and established the Cambridge Auto Center; it was also in 1984
 that he began his long run as the popular host of The Automotive
 Show on KTSA Radio; through that program, he shared his extensive
 knowledge of autos and dispensed advice to listeners throughout San
 Antonio and South Texas; in addition, Mr. Gehrlein coauthored a
 book titled Save $$$ on Car Repairs, and he was a member of the Texas
 Automotive Writers Association; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gehrlein enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, Anne; he was blessed with three children,
 Kristy, Kira, and Steven, as well as three grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, While Steve Gehrlein completed his journey on this
 earth far too soon, he enjoyed a life that was rich in family,
 friends, and accomplishments, and he will forever be remembered
 with great admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of Steven F. Gehrlein and extend sincere condolences to the members
 of his family: to his wife, Anne Gehrlein; to his daughters and
 sons-in-law, Kristy and Dewayne Allen and Kira and Sean Willingham;
 to his son, Steven Ryan Gehrlein, and his companion, Amy Green; to
 his three grandchildren, MaryAlice, Lola, and Jake; to his brother,
 Walter Gehrlein, and his wife, Janice; to his friend and business
 partner, Judy Lenard; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Steve
 Gehrlein.
