                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 100
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Chief Warrant Officer Four Armando Garcia, Jr.,
 Infantry Weapons Officer, on his many years of outstanding
 service to his country; and
 WHEREAS, Armando Garcia enlisted in the United States Air
 Force in 1981 and served in that branch of the service until
 enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in May of 1985; he
 first served as a construction draftsman in the 7th Engineers
 Support Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California, and completed
 numerous projects; he was promoted to corporal and served in
 Japan and Korea before being reassigned to the 4th Reconnaissance
 Battalion; and
 WHEREAS, After reenlisting, he served as an infantry
 machine gunner, then as a heavy machine gun team leader, and,
 after his promotion to sergeant in September of 1989, as a heavy
 machine gun section leader; Mr. Garcia completed a combat tour in
 support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, serving
 with distinction; after reenlisting again, he trained and served
 as a drill instructor and then served with several weapons units
 as platoon sergeant, gunnery sergeant, and platoon commander,
 distinguishing himself as an able and reliable leader and rising
 through the ranks; and
 WHEREAS, He was commissioned as Chief Weapons Officer Two
 in February of 2000, and he served five more combat tours in
 support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as battalion gunner; and
 WHEREAS, In July of 2009, Warrant Officer Garcia reported
 to the 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, at Fort Sam
 Houston, Texas, to assume duties as inspector instructor
 battalion gunner; in January of 2011, he was chosen to assume the
 additional duties of Company C inspector instructor and Reserve
 Company C commander; and
 WHEREAS, During his long and distinguished service to his
 country, Chief Warrant Officer Four Armando Garcia has upheld the
 highest military standards, and his valor and devotion to duty
 are an expression of his enduring patriotism; through his
 outstanding service, he has earned the deepest respect of his
 fellow marines and his countrymen; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Chief Warrant
 Officer Four Armando Garcia, Jr., on his exceptional service in
 the United States Marines and extend to him best wishes for the
 future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
