SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Psi Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority,
Incorporated, on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated, was
founded in 1929 by Mrs. Lola M. Parker as a national professional
organization for women in the field of business; and
WHEREAS, The Psi Chapter was chartered in 1936 in Dallas,
and it has followed the vision of the sorority's founder by
supporting the professional growth and development of its
members and volunteering services throughout the Metroplex; and
WHEREAS, The chapter sponsors a wide array of activities
every year during Iota Business Month, including workshops on
business and economic issues and a public luncheon to honor
entrepreneurs and community leaders; it also awards an annual
scholarship to a high school senior who plans to enter college
and major in a business discipline; and
WHEREAS, Psi Chapter members are actively involved in
numerous civic organizations, including the American Red Cross,
the Children's Defense Fund, and the Diabetes Foundation; the
chapter is truly deserving of recognition for its many
achievements as it celebrates this milestone; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members of
the Psi Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Incorporated, on
their many exemplary achievements and extend to them best wishes
for a memorable 75th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this outstanding organization as an expression of high regard
from the Texas Senate.
