SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 132
WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Alice and Larry
Pena placed great faith and trust in one another, and they have
been amply rewarded, as they are celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Larry and Alice Pena were wed in her grandmother's
home on July 7, 1961; even though they had only known each other
for five days, it was clear to them both that they were destined
to spend their lives together; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the
years of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Pena have continued to
cherish traditional values; they have been blessed with a
wonderful family, and their daughters, Sylvia and Stephanie, and
their grandson, Austin, have been a source of much pride and joy;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Pena has been very active in the community in
addition to her work as a mother and as a valuable volunteer in
her daughters' school activities and their adventures in
Mr. Pena has remained true to his South San Antonio roots and has
sold homes in the neighborhood for more than 40 years; the couple
has owned several successful businesses together, including a
pair of popular Mexican restaurants, and they have been active
parishioners at Saint James Catholic Church for more than 45
years; and
WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Pena is
truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend congratulations
to Alice and Larry Pena on the joyous occasion of their 50th
wedding anniversary; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
this distinguished couple as a memento of this milestone in their
lives.
