                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Harmony Science Academy of El Paso, which has
 provided a group of its students the opportunity to participate
 in the Senate's Page for a Day Program; and
 WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy of El Paso is a member of
 the Harmony School System, high-performing public charter
 schools that focus on mathematics, science, engineering, and
 computer technologies to provide opportunities for underserved
 communities; and
 WHEREAS, This outstanding educational institution has been
 rated by the Texas Education Agency as either Exemplary or
 Recognized for each of the last four years, and it has been noted
 for its distinguished performance in closing the achievement
 gap; its robotics team has represented Texas and the United
 States at several national and international robotics
 competitions over the last three years; its students are
 motivated learners who work hard to achieve their best; and
 WHEREAS, The Page for a Day Program offers a chance for
 students between the ages of six and 18 to experience the Texas
 Legislature firsthand; they are able to see their government at
 work and to personally observe the ins and outs of the lawmaking
 process; and
 WHEREAS, Taking part in the Page for a Day Program from
 this prestigious school were David Lopez, Fernando Melendez,
 Manuel Lopez, Seth Martin, Francisco Yoshimoto, and Haylee
 Barraza; these exemplary young students performed their duties
 as pages with energy and skill, and their interest in civic
 engagement and the legislative process points to a bright future
 for our state; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED,
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the academy as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
