SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28 In Memory of Rudolph T. Barrera WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the who died May 27, 2011, at the age of 86; and WHEREAS, Rudolph T. Barrera was born January 31, 1925, in Corpus Christi; a 1943 graduate of Corpus Christi High School, he served the nation with distinction during World War II as a member of the United States Army Air Forces; and WHEREAS, Dr. Barrera graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1950 and enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an optometrist with his own practice; and WHEREAS, Active in professional and community affairs, Dr. Barrera was a member of the Optometric Association and was a cofounder of Nueces National Bank; he had served on the Corpus Christi Zoning and Planning Commission and the United States Draft Board of Corpus Christi, and he was one of the founders of the United Married Couples Social Club and the Scepter Couples Social Club; and WHEREAS, A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he gave generously to others, and his love of laughter and his enthusiasm for living life to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Rudolph T. Barrera; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Rudolph T. Barrera.
