SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Barbara Meeks, who was recently elected chair of the Galveston County Republican Party; and WHEREAS, A marketing consultant with experience in political consulting, Barbara Meeks served three years as a League City councilwoman in addition to having served as a Republican precinct chair for nearly 10 years; and WHEREAS, She intends to focus on improving the efficiency of the party's day-to-day operations and uniting party leadership to better serve the interests of constituents; she will also work to promote transparency and accessibility and to fill vacancies in the ranks of precinct chairs; and WHEREAS, She will also bring her experience as a candidate and public office holder to bear in creating a candidate's job fair, offering potential candidates a one-stop informational session on campaign finance filing, advertising, and political strategies; with her wealth of experience and dedication to public service, she is truly an asset to the Republican Party of Galveston County; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Barbara Meeks on her civic involvement and extend congratulations to her on being elected chair of the Galveston County Republican Party; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
