                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize James Ester Davis for her exemplary service to her
 community and state; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Conroe, Ester Davis has long been a
 leading Dallas citizen and has played a vital role in the
 community; and
 WHEREAS, For more than 30 years, she has helped hundreds of
 youths to participate in productive activities and has
 encouraged them to keep the tenets of their faith and abstain
 from using drugs; and
 WHEREAS, Since the late 1970s, she has served as a mentor
 and a role model to many; she started a youth choir to help keep
 young people involved in wholesome, positive pursuits, and she
 has helped them grow up to take their places in society as
 responsible, community-minded adults; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she has served as a pianist
 and an active member of the Greater New Zion Baptist Church; she
 has also been a motivational speaker, a newspaper columnist, an
 entrepreneur, a fashion designer, and a television talk show
 host; and
 WHEREAS, She is dedicated to her family and to the
 betterment of her community; known for her integrity, courage,
 and fidelity, she has led by example, and she truly represents
 the best of Texas' citizenry; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend James Ester
 Davis for her outstanding leadership and her many contributions
 to the Dallas community; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
