                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 43
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Emily Ruth Shelton for her outstanding service with
 Texas Impact; and
 WHEREAS, Texas Impact is a statewide religious grassroots
 network dedicated to promoting public policies that advance
 widely held social principles of justice and equality; this
 dedicated organization was founded on the belief that religious
 communities are called upon to minister to the whole person and
 that such a ministry must include an involvement in basic social
 concerns at the state government level; and
 WHEREAS, Emily joined Texas Impact while an undergraduate
 at The University of Texas at Austin and in a few short years has
 become a veteran public policy advocate; and
 WHEREAS, She is a longtime lay leader at University United
 Methodist Church and has provided strong leadership to
 communities of faith across the state in working for justice in
 health care, immigration, taxes, and other vital state public
 policy issues; and
 WHEREAS, Emily is respected and admired by her colleagues,
 and her presence at Texas Impact will be greatly missed; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Emily Ruth
 Shelton on her exceptional service to Texas Impact and extend to
 her best wishes for continued success in all her future
 endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
