                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 73
 In Memory
 of
 Barbara Ann Goldstein
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Barbara Ann Goldstein, who died April 7,
 2011, at the age of 64; and
 WHEREAS, Barbara Ann Goldstein was a native of
 Brooksville, Mississippi, and earned a degree in education from
 Mississippi State College for Women in 1968; she moved to Houston
 in 1969 and embarked on a distinguished career in education; and
 WHEREAS, For 30 years, Mrs. Goldstein worked with the
 Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, holding a wide
 array of positions, including teacher, team leader, assistant
 principal and principal; under her leadership as principal,
 several schools earned exemplary ratings, and she served as a
 mentor to numerous other teachers and administrators; and
 WHEREAS, Following her 2002 retirement from the
 Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, she began an
 eight-year stint as principal of the Shlenker School, an
 elementary school affiliated with Congregation Beth Israel; over
 the course of her career as an educator, she created numerous
 learning programs and brought to bear her enduring passion for
 the fields of reading and child literacy; and
 WHEREAS, A woman of courage, generosity, and compassion;
 she gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
 valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
 WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves
 behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and
 many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
 condolences to the bereaved family of Barbara Ann Goldstein: her
 husband of 30 years, Jerry Goldstein; her daughter, Pamela Leigh
 Williams; and her sister, Pamela Elizabeth Seitz; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Barbara Ann Goldstein.
