SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89 In Memory of Marilyn Joyce Breeden WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Marilyn Joyce Breeden, who died June 13, 2011, at the age of 86; and WHEREAS, Marilyn Joyce Breeden was born and raised in a small town in Illinois; she earned a bachelor's degree from Millikin University and pursued further studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and WHEREAS, In order to fulfill her lifelong dream of traveling and seeing the world, she became a flight attendant for Pan American Airways and worked throughout much of Latin America; she was transferred to Brownsville, where she met and married her husband, the late Dan F. Breeden, and the couple went on to raise three sons, who blessed them with seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Her life was marked by many talents and interests, including music, dancing, collecting amber, the Pan American Round Table, and gardening; and WHEREAS, A woman of warmth, strength, and compassion, she gave generously to others, and her wisdom, her adventurous spirit, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marilyn Joyce Breeden.
