99 relating to certain assessments for children in the conservatorship
1010 of the state.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Chapter 266, Family Code, is amended by adding
1313 Section 266.011 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 266.011. COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS. (a) Not later
1515 than the 45th day after the date a child enters the conservatorship
1616 of the department, the child shall receive a developmentally
1717 appropriate, comprehensive psychosocial assessment. The assessment
1818 must include:
1919 (1) a screening for trauma; and
2020 (2) interviews with individuals who have knowledge of
2121 the child's needs.
2222 (b) The department shall develop:
2323 (1) a schedule of approved assessment tools that may
2424 be used in the performance of an assessment; and
2525 (2) guidelines regarding the contents of an assessment
2626 report.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
