11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 266, Family Code, is amended by adding | |
13 | 13 | Section 266.011 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 266.011. COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS. (a) Not later | |
15 | 15 | than the 45th day after the date a child enters the conservatorship | |
16 | 16 | of the department, the child shall receive a developmentally | |
17 | 17 | appropriate, comprehensive psychosocial assessment. The assessment | |
18 | 18 | must include: | |
19 | 19 | (1) a screening for trauma; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) interviews with individuals who have knowledge of | |
21 | 21 | the child's needs. | |
22 | 22 | (b) The department shall develop: | |
23 | 23 | (1) a schedule of approved assessment tools that may | |
24 | 24 | be used in the performance of an assessment; and | |
25 | 25 | (2) guidelines regarding the contents of an assessment | |
26 | 26 | report. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
