99 AN ACT
1010 relating to information regarding the number of public school
1111 students with dyslexia.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 42.006, Education Code, is amended by
1414 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1515 (a-1) The commissioner by rule shall require each school
1616 district and open-enrollment charter school to report through the
1717 Public Education Information Management System information
1818 regarding the number of students enrolled in the district or school
1919 who are identified as having dyslexia. The agency shall maintain
2020 the information provided in accordance with this subsection.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
