 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the disclosure of certain personal information from
 driver's license records maintained by the Department of Public
 Safety.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 521.049(c), Transportation Code, is
 amended to read as follows:
 (c)  The department shall [may] make available for
 government purposes, including law enforcement purposes, all
 information from driver's license record files[, including
 class-type listings, available] to an official of the United
 States, the state, or a political subdivision of this state,
 including law enforcement personnel. The department shall provide
 complete information and shall ensure that information made
 available under this subsection is used only for a government
 purpose [for government purposes only].
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
