                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            March 25, 2013      TO: Honorable René Oliveira, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB1723 by Bohac (Relating to the redemption of certain stored value cards, including gift cards, for cash.), As Introduced    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would require a seller, at the consumer's request, to refund the balance of certain stored value cards, if that stored value card was redeemed in person to make a purchase and has a balance of less than $5 remaining following the redemption. Based on the analysis of the Comptroller of Public Accounts, implementation of the provisions of the bill is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal impact.
