A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the private practice of law by a judge of the County
Court at Law of Starr County on commissioners court approval.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 25.2162, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) On approval of the Commissioners Court of Starr County,
the judge of a county court at law may engage in the private
practice of law but may not appear and plead as an attorney in any
court of record in this state or in any court over which the judge
has appellate jurisdiction.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
