99 relating to the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 98.002(a), Health and Safety Code, as
1212 added by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature,
1313 Regular Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
1414 (a) The Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force is composed of:
1515 (1) 18 [13] members appointed by the governor as
1616 follows:
1717 (A) one family practice physician;
1818 (B) one pathologist;
1919 (C) one nephrologist representative from a
2020 nephrology department of a state medical school;
2121 (D) one nephrologist in private practice;
2222 (E) one representative [two representatives]
2323 from [different Texas affiliates of] the National Kidney
2424 Foundation;
2525 (F) one representative from the department's
2626 Kidney Health Care Program [department];
2727 (G) one representative of an insurer that issues
2828 a preferred provider benefit plan or of a health maintenance
2929 organization;
3030 (H) one representative of clinical laboratories;
3131 (I) one representative of private renal care
3232 providers;
3333 (J) one pediatrician in private practice;
3434 (K) one kidney transplant surgeon; [and]
3535 (L) one representative from the Texas Renal
3636 Coalition;
3737 (M) one primary care physician;
3838 (N) one licensed and certified renal dietitian;
3939 (O) one certified nephrology nurse;
4040 (P) one representative from a health care system;
4141 (Q) one representative of the Health and Human
4242 Services Commission whose duties involve the state Medicaid
4343 program; and
4444 (R) one end stage renal disease expert;
4545 (2) two members of the senate appointed by the
4646 lieutenant governor; and
4747 (3) two members of the house of representatives
4848 appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
4949 SECTION 2. Section 98.006, Health and Safety Code, as added
5050 by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
5151 Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
5252 Sec. 98.006. REPORT. Not later than January 1 of each
5353 even-numbered year[, 2013], the task force shall submit its
5454 findings and recommendations to:
5555 (1) the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of
5656 the house of representatives; and
5757 (2) the presiding officers of the [Senate Committee on
5858 Health and Human Services and the Public Health Committee of the
5959 house of representatives, or the] appropriate standing committees
6060 of the legislature with jurisdiction over health issues [82nd
6161 Legislature].
6262 SECTION 3. Section 98.009, Health and Safety Code, as added
6363 by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
6464 Session, 2007, is repealed.
6565 SECTION 4. Not later than January 1, 2014, the governor
6666 shall appoint the additional members to the Chronic Kidney Disease
6767 Task Force as required by Section 98.002(a), Health and Safety
6868 Code, as added by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th
6969 Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, as amended by this Act.
7070 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
