8	8	AN ACT
9	9	relating to the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force.
10	10	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
11	11	SECTION 1. Section 98.002(a), Health and Safety Code, as
12	12	added by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature,
13	13	Regular Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
14	14	(a) The Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force is composed of:
15	15	(1) 18 [13] members appointed by the governor as
16	16	follows:
17	17	(A) one family practice physician;
18	18	(B) one pathologist;
19	19	(C) one nephrologist representative from a
20	20	nephrology department of a state medical school;
21	21	(D) one nephrologist in private practice;
22	22	(E) one representative [two representatives]
23	23	from [different Texas affiliates of] the National Kidney
24	24	Foundation;
25	25	(F) one representative from the department's
26	26	Kidney Health Care Program [department];
27	27	(G) one representative of an insurer that issues
28	28	a preferred provider benefit plan or of a health maintenance
29	29	organization;
30	30	(H) one representative of clinical laboratories;
31	31	(I) one representative of private renal care
32	32	providers;
33	33	(J) one pediatrician in private practice;
34	34	(K) one kidney transplant surgeon; [and]
35	35	(L) one representative from the Texas Renal
36	36	Coalition;
37	37	(M) one primary care physician;
38	38	(N) one licensed and certified renal dietitian;
39	39	(O) one certified nephrology nurse;
40	40	(P) one representative from a health care system;
41	41	(Q) one representative of the Health and Human
42	42	Services Commission whose duties involve the state Medicaid
43	43	program; and
44	44	(R) one end stage renal disease expert;
45	45	(2) two members of the senate appointed by the
46	46	lieutenant governor; and
47	47	(3) two members of the house of representatives
48	48	appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
49	49	SECTION 2. Section 98.006, Health and Safety Code, as added
50	50	by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
51	51	Session, 2007, is amended to read as follows:
52	52	Sec. 98.006. REPORT. Not later than January 1 of each
53	53	even-numbered year[, 2013], the task force shall submit its
54	54	findings and recommendations to:
55	55	(1) the governor, lieutenant governor, and speaker of
56	56	the house of representatives; and
57	57	(2) the presiding officers of the [Senate Committee on
58	58	Health and Human Services and the Public Health Committee of the
59	59	house of representatives, or the] appropriate standing committees
60	60	of the legislature with jurisdiction over health issues [82nd
61	61	Legislature].
62	62	SECTION 3. Section 98.009, Health and Safety Code, as added
63	63	by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th Legislature, Regular
64	64	Session, 2007, is repealed.
65	65	SECTION 4. Not later than January 1, 2014, the governor
66	66	shall appoint the additional members to the Chronic Kidney Disease
67	67	Task Force as required by Section 98.002(a), Health and Safety
68	68	Code, as added by Chapter 671 (H.B. 1373), Acts of the 80th
69	69	Legislature, Regular Session, 2007, as amended by this Act.
70	70	SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
