1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to eligibility of certain persons for enrollment in school
1212 district summer school courses.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 25, Education Code, is
1515 amended by adding Section 25.008 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 25.008. ENROLLMENT IN SUMMER SCHOOL COURSE BY PERSON
1717 NOT ENROLLED IN DISTRICT. (a) Except as provided by Subsection
1818 (b), a school district shall permit a person who is eligible under
1919 Section 25.001 to attend school in the district but who is not
2020 enrolled in school in the district to enroll in a district summer
2121 school course on the same basis as a district student, including:
2222 (1) satisfaction of any course eligibility
2323 requirement; and
2424 (2) payment of any fee authorized under Section 11.158
2525 that is charged in connection with the course.
2626 (b) Subsection (a) does not apply to enrollment in a program
2727 under Section 29.088, 29.090, or 29.098 or in a similar intensive
2828 program.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3333 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
