A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the imposition of an additional motor vehicle
registration fee to be deposited into the Texas Mobility Fund.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 502, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 502.360 to read as follows:
Sec. 502.360. ADDITIONAL FEE FOR TEXAS MOBILITY FUND. (a)
In addition to other fees imposed for registration of a motor
vehicle, at the time of application for registration or renewal of
registration of a motor vehicle the applicant shall pay a fee of
$50. Fees collected under this section shall be remitted weekly to
the department.
(b) Fees collected under this section shall be deposited to
the credit of the Texas Mobility Fund.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013, but only
if the constitutional amendment proposed by the 83rd Legislature,
Regular Session, 2013, authorizing the legislature to impose by
general law an additional motor vehicle registration fee to be
deposited into the Texas Mobility Fund is approved by the voters.
If that amendment is not approved by the voters, this Act has no
effect.
