The bill would amend the Election Code to require the Secretary of State to coordinate with other states and jurisdictions in order to develop systems to prevent the duplication of voter registration. The Secretary of State estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill. This bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of each house; if not, it will take effect on September 1, 2013.
