| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 504.315, Transportation Code, is amended |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | by adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (a-1) The department shall issue specialty license plates |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | for recipients of the Air Medal and Air Medal with Valor. License |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | plates issued under this subsection must include the Air Medal |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | emblem and must include the words "Air Medal" at the bottom of each |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | plate. License plates issued under this subsection to recipients |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of the Air Medal with Valor that are not personalized must also |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | include the letter "V" as a prefix or suffix to the numerals on each |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | plate. Section 504.702 does not apply to license plates authorized |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | by this subsection. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Section 681.008(b), Transportation Code, is |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (b) A vehicle on which license plates described by |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Subsection (a)(2) or issued under Section 504.202, 504.315, or |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | [Section 504.315(a), (c), (d), (e), (f), (g), or (h), or Section] |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 504.316 are displayed is exempt from the payment of a parking fee |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | collected through a parking meter charged by a governmental |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | authority other than a branch of the federal government, when being |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | operated by or for the transportation of: |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (1) the person who registered the vehicle under |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Section 504.202(a), 504.315, or [Section 504.315(a), (c), (d), (e), |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (f), (g), or (h), or Section] 504.316; |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (2) a person described in Section 504.202(b) if the |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | vehicle is registered under that subsection; or |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (3) the owner or operator of a vehicle displaying |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | license plates described by Subsection (a)(2). |
