                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            April 24, 2013      TO: Honorable Wayne Smith, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2501 by Bohac (Relating to an identifying number assigned to a notary public by the secretary of state.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Secretary of State to assign each notary public, who applies for a commission or a reappointment on or after the effective date of the bill, an identifying number and keep a record of each number assigned. The bill would require that a notary public's seal of office display the assigned indentifying number.  The Secretary of State indicates the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. This bill would take effect January 1, 2014.
