99 relating to reimbursement for jury service.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 61.001(a), Government Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (a) Except as provided by Subsection (c), a person who
1414 reports for jury service in response to the process of a court is
1515 entitled to receive as reimbursement for travel and other expenses
1616 an amount:
1717 (1) not less than $6 for the first day or fraction of
1818 the first day the person is in attendance in court in response to
1919 the process and discharges the person's duty for that day; and
2020 (2) not less than the amount provided as reimbursement
2121 under Section 61.0015(a) [$40] for each day or fraction of each day
2222 the person is in attendance in court in response to the process
2323 after the first day and discharges the person's duty for that day.
2424 SECTION 2. Section 61.0015(a), Government Code, is amended
2525 to read as follows:
2626 (a) The state shall reimburse a county in the appropriate
2727 amount as provided in the General Appropriations Act [$34 a day] for
2828 the reimbursement paid under Section 61.001 to a person who reports
2929 for jury service in response to the process of a court [for each day
3030 or fraction of each day after the first day in attendance in court
3131 in response to the process].
3232 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
