                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 10, 2013      TO: Honorable Dan Patrick, Chair, Senate Committee on Education      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB2662 by Farney (Relating to a personal financial literacy credit for high school programs.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Education Code to require a personal financial literacy credit as part of the enrichment curriculum. Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by using existing resources. The bill would become effective immediately upon approval by appropriate voting majorities, or on September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact School districts could incur costs to obtain instructional materials and to hire additional staff to teach the additional one-half credit personal financial literacy course.
