10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 419.909(a), Government Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a | |
14 | 14 | fire inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by | |
15 | 15 | a state or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The | |
16 | 16 | following entities may provide training related to fire safety | |
17 | 17 | inspections: | |
18 | 18 | (1) the commi | |
19 | 19 | ssion; | |
20 | 20 | (2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' | |
21 | 21 | Association of Texas; | |
22 | 22 | (3) the National Fire Protection Association; | |
23 | 23 | (4) a public junior college; | |
24 | 24 | (5) a regional fire academy; or | |
25 | 25 | (6) any state agency with authority over fire safety | |
26 | 26 | inspections. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
28 | 28 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
29 | 29 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
30 | 30 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
31 | 31 | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
