88 relating to training regarding fire safety inspections required by

1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 419.909(a), Government Code, is amended
1212 to read as follows:
1313 (a) Only an individual certified by the commission as a
1414 fire inspector may conduct a fire safety inspection required by
1515 a state or local law, rule, regulation, or ordinance. The
1616 following entities may provide training related to fire safety
1717 inspections:
1818 (1) the commi
1919 ssion;
2020 (2) the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals'
2121 Association of Texas;
2222 (3) the National Fire Protection Association;
2323 (4) a public junior college;
2424 (5) a regional fire academy; or
2525 (6) any state agency with authority over fire safety
2626 inspections.
2727 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
