| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 531, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 531.192 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 531.192. PROVISION OF INFORMATION UPON |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | RECERTIFICATION. (a) This section applies to: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (1) the financial assistance program under Chapter 31, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Human Resources Code; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (2) the medical assistance program under Chapter 32, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Human Resources Code; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (3) the supplemental nutrition assistance program |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | under Chapter 33, Human Resources Code. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (b) At the time a person is recertified as eligible to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | receive benefits or assistance under a program listed in Subsection |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (a), the commission shall provide information regarding the total |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | amount of benefits or assistance received by the person under all of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the programs during the preceding 12 months. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Section 531.192, Government Code, as added by |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | this Act, applies to a person for whom a recertification of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | eligibility for benefits or assistance under Chapter 31, 32, or 33, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Human Resources Code, is made on or after the effective date of this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | waiver or authorization is granted. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
