10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 391.006, Local Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (d) to | |
13 | 13 | read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (c) or (d), | |
15 | 15 | participating governmental units may by joint agreement determine | |
16 | 16 | the number and qualifications of members of the governing body of a | |
17 | 17 | commission. | |
18 | 18 | (d) If a county participating in a commission has a | |
19 | 19 | population of more than 650,000 and less than 850,000, the | |
20 | 20 | governing body of the commission must include one member appointed | |
21 | 21 | by that county. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. A county to which Section 391.006, Local | |
23 | 23 | Government Code, as amended by this Act, applies shall appoint a | |
24 | 24 | member to the governing body of a regional planning commission as | |
25 | 25 | required by that section not later than January 1, 2014. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
