12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 387.003(a), Local Government Code, is | |
14 | 14 | amended to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | (a) The commissioners court of the county may call an | |
16 | 16 | election on the question of creating a county assistance district | |
17 | 17 | under this chapter. More than one county assistance district may | |
18 | 18 | be created in a county[, but not more than one district may be | |
19 | 19 | created in a commissioners precinct]. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | |
