13 | 13 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 1. Section 22.01(e)(1), Penal Code, is amended to | |
15 | 15 | read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | (1) "Emergency services personnel" includes | |
17 | 17 | firefighters, emergency medical services personnel as defined by | |
18 | 18 | Section 773.003, Health and Safety Code, emergency room personnel, | |
19 | 19 | and other individuals who, in the course and scope of employment or | |
20 | 20 | as a volunteer, provide services for the benefit of the general | |
21 | 21 | public during emergency situations. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | |
