99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the definition of emergency services personnel for
1111 purposes of the enhanced penalty prescribed for an assault
1212 committed against a person providing services in that capacity.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Section 22.01(e)(1), Penal Code, is amended to
1515 read as follows:
1616 (1) "Emergency services personnel" includes
1717 firefighters, emergency medical services personnel as defined by
1818 Section 773.003, Health and Safety Code, emergency room personnel,
1919 and other individuals who, in the course and scope of employment or
2020 as a volunteer, provide services for the benefit of the general
2121 public during emergency situations.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
