LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 8, 2013 TO: Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:HB843 by Lucio III (Relating to persons entitled to notice of and to participation in certain hearings regarding a child in the conservatorship of the state.), As Engrossed No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Family Code as it relates to persons entitled to notice of and to participate in certain hearings regarding a child in the conservatorship of the state to include certain children. The change in law made by the bill would apply only to a hearing held on or after September 10, 2013. A hearing held before that date is governed by the law as it existed immediately before the effective date of the bill, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose. The Department of Family and Protective Services does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact as a result of complying with the provisions of the bill. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
