Lewis, Chair, House Committee On Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:HB989 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to the fine or penalty for violation of a municipal rule, ordinance, or police regulation and municipal court jurisdiction to enforce certain violations.), As Introduced    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Local Government Code, the Government Code, and the Code of Criminal Procedure to grant exclusive original jurisdiction to municipal courts in certain cases; and would increase fines or penalties for a violation of a municipal rule, ordinance, or police regulation, including violations related to fire safety, zoning, or public health and sanitation.
