A JOINT RESOLUTION
supporting the ratification of a proposed amendment to the
Constitution of the United States providing for a balanced federal
budget.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The Legislature of the State of Texas by this
resolution states its support of and intention to ratify, under
Article V of the United States Constitution, an amendment to the
Constitution of the United States to require a balanced federal
budget as proposed by House Joint Resolution No. ___ or Senate Joint
Resolution No. ___ of the ___th Congress of the United States.
SECTION 2. The secretary of state of this state shall:
(1) notify the archivist of the United States of the
action of the 83rd Legislature of the State of Texas, Regular
Session, 2013, by sending the archivist a copy of this resolution;
and
(2) send copies of this resolution to the United
States senators from Texas, to all United States representatives
from Texas, to the vice president of the United States, and to the
speaker of the United States House of Representatives with the
request that it be printed in full in the Congressional Record.
