 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The month of November provides a special time to
 recognize philanthropic contributions that have made a positive
 difference across the Lone Star State; and
 WHEREAS, Every day, nonprofit organizations, companies, and
 individual volunteers share their time and resources to support
 people in need, and their selfless efforts help to make our
 communities better places to live; and
 WHEREAS, One group that has played a vital role in charitable
 work throughout our country and beyond is the Association of
 Fundraising Professionals, which promotes ethical and effective
 fundraising; and
 WHEREAS, AFP represents 30,000 members in the United States,
 Canada, and Mexico, including 12 chapters in Texas, who aim to
 fulfill the organization's mission by offering affiliates
 education, training, mentoring, research, credentialing, and
 advocacy; and
 WHEREAS, By fostering meaningful participation in a host of
 charitable endeavors, AFP has set an outstanding example of social
 responsibility while helping to create a brighter future for
 countless Texans; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize November 2013 as Texas Philanthropy
 Month and commend the members of the Association of Fundraising
 Professionals for their efforts to benefit their communities.
