H.R. No. 1129 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The citizens of Rowlett have greatly benefited from the dedicated leadership and countless contributions of city council member Ron Miller; and WHEREAS, A business owner with several decades of experience in real estate finance, Ron Miller began his career as an appraiser for Cole-Layer-Trumble Company in Dayton, Ohio; answering his country's call to duty, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a medic during the Vietnam War; following his discharge, he moved to Texas and settled in Rowlett in 1975 to work with Lomas & Nettleton Financial Corporation; he established his own business, Mortgage Support Services, in 1990 and continues to work as a consultant in real estate finance; and WHEREAS, Councilman Miller was elected to his current position in July 2011, bringing with him his considerable financial expertise to serve the citizens of Rowlett; he has additionally been on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the DART's Station Art & Design Program Committee, the Environmental Learning Center Committee, and the Steering Committee for the Comprehensive Planning and Zoning review; moreover, he has been a frequent contributor to the Dallas Morning News as a Community Voices columnist, discussing matters relating to the Lake Ray Hubbard area; and WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and Ron Miller is helping to make Rowlett an even better place in which to live and work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor Ron Miller for his outstanding service to Rowlett and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Councilman Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
