H.R. No. 1142 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, March 2013 was a special month for Geneva and Calvin Ebner of Deweyville as March 19 marked their 63rd wedding anniversary and March 17 was Mrs. Ebner's 81st birthday; and WHEREAS, A native of China, Texas, the former "Ginny" Borque married Cal Ebner in 1950, two days after she turned 18; through the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ebner worked as a maintenance mechanic for the Houston Chemical Company in Beaumont for more than 30 years before retiring in 1993, while Mrs. Ebner has been a dedicated homemaker; together, they are respected members of their community who have enhanced the lives of their fellow citizens in myriad ways; and WHEREAS, The couple are longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Deweyville, where Mr. Ebner teaches Sunday school and has served as president of the deacon board, as Sunday school superintendent, and as chair of the building committee; he has also distinguished himself as chair of the Newton County Republican Party since 1981, and he is president of the Newton County Republican Club; in addition to supporting her family members in their many endeavors, Mrs. Ebner enjoys quilting and making jelly; and WHEREAS, The 63 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Ebner have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor Ginny and Cal Ebner on their 63rd wedding anniversary and congratulate Mrs. Ebner on her 81st birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Ebner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
