H.R. No. 1179
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Sachse High School drill team won numerous top
honors at the American Dance/Drill Team North Texas Regional held
on February 2, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Competing in the team and officer categories, the
Sachse Swingsters received Best Overall awards for technique,
presentation, precision, and choreography; the group also won Best
in Class and garnered the Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, In the elite category, the Swingster Spurs elite
ensemble earned the Best in Class trophy as well as Best Overall
awards in technique, presentation, precision, and choreography;
the Spurs elite team won the Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence
as well; and
WHEREAS, Individual honors for solo performance were
presented to first-place winner Savanna Fredrickson and to second
runner-up Maryelle Stephenson; and
WHEREAS, Led by director Brittany Shaver and assistant Ashley
Ellis, the members of the Sachse High School Swingsters have
demonstrated great skill and a commitment to excellence, and they
are a source of pride for their school and community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Sachse High School Swingsters
for their
achievements at the American Dance/Drill Team North Texas
Regional and extend to the members of the team sincere best wishes
for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
