H.R. No. 1188
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Angel Roldan of Garland has won the third annual
CiCi's Pizza Throwdown competition, which was held in Murphy on
February 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, More than 200 pizza artisans from across the country
train all year to vie for this national title; after competing in
local and regional events, the original field is whittled down to
just four contestants for the final round of the challenge, in which
they are tasked with stretching, saucing, and baking a full buffet
of pizzas, desserts, and garlic parmesan knots as quickly and
skillfully as possible; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Roldan's first-place time of just 24 minutes and
9 seconds earned him the national title, along with a number of
awards; in addition, Mr. Roldan's name will be featured prominently
on a CiCi's distribution truck that will be used to deliver supplies
to restaurants all across the nation; and
WHEREAS, An employee at the CiCi's locations in Garland and
Pleasant Grove, Mr. Roldan has worked for the company for 12 years,
and he has participated in training videos that demonstrate pizza
making; and
WHEREAS, Angel Roldan has shown exemplary dedication to his
culinary craft, and he is indeed deserving of recognition for his
impressive achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Angel Roldan on winning the third
annual CiCi's Pizza Throwdown and extend to him sincere best wishes
for continued success.
