H.R. No. 1224
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The girls' soccer team from the Brook Hill School in
Bullard brought its season to a triumphant close by winning the
Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Division III
state championship on March 9, 2013, at Awty International School
in Houston; and
WHEREAS, The title game was a rematch with Covenant Christian
Academy of Colleyville, a squad that had defeated the Lady Guard
twice during the regular season; the Brook Hill players were
confident in their abilities, however, and put together a masterful
performance; goalie Hayden Langemeier and the Lady Guard defense
kept CCA off the scoreboard while Morgan Moss, Katherine Stair, and
Kendall Wells scored a goal apiece to secure a 3-0 win and the state
crown; Ms. Moss, Ms. Wells, Ari Assad, and Kennedy Rose were named
to the All-Tournament team; and
WHEREAS, Ably guided by coach David Collins, Brook Hill
finished with a final record of 14 wins and 5 losses and received
valuable contributions from each member of the roster throughout
the season; thanks to the inspired play of its athletes, the Lady
Guard has quickly emerged as a top-notch team, reaching the state
tournament in each of its two seasons in TAPPS competition; and
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, and the members of the Brook Hill soccer
team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment for many years
to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Brook Hill School girls' soccer
team on winning the TAPPS Division III state championship and
extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
