H.R. No. 1226 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Chris Wagner of the Dallas Police Department has been named the 2012 Cops' Cop Officer of the Year by the Dallas Police Association, providing a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to this outstanding peace officer; and WHEREAS, After serving his nation for four years in the U.S. Air Force, Corporal Wagner joined the Dallas PD in 1997, and in his more than 15 years on the force, he has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow officers for his dedication, attention to detail, and hard work; and WHEREAS, In the course of his career thus far, Corporal Wagner has arrested thousands of suspects, and for more than a decade, he was an indispensable member of the southwest patrol crime response team, tasked with ridding the region of drug houses; aware that many drug houses were stealing electricity, Corporal Wagner began working with the Oncor Electric Delivery Company to cut them off the grid; this innovative method of fighting crime has since been adopted by other police units in Dallas and other jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, Recently assigned to southwest patrol's burglary task force, Corporal Wagner will no doubt continue to build on his reputation for fairness, resourcefulness, and diligence; he truly represents Dallas's finest, and he may take pride in this impressive and heartfelt recognition from his brothers and sisters in blue; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Senior Corporal Chris Wagner on his selection as the Cops' Cop Officer of the Year and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Corporal Wagner as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
