R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The City of Garland has earned the LIVE UNITED Award
for Public Services from the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas; and
WHEREAS, The LIVE UNITED Award honors organizations that have
helped to advance the United Way's vision of a world where all
individuals and families achieve their human potential through
education, income stability, and healthy lives; and
WHEREAS, During the past year, Garland municipal employees
have raised more than $68,000 for the United Way of Metropolitan
Dallas, and this contribution will provide valuable support to the
organization's many worthwhile programs; and
WHEREAS, The City of Garland has demonstrated an ongoing
commitment to the United Way, and in so doing, it is improving the
quality of life in the area and setting a commendable example for
other communities across the state; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland on earning the
LIVE UNITED Award for Public Services from the United Way of
Metropolitan Dallas and commend its employees for their efforts to
further a vital cause; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the city as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
