H.R. No. 1285
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ruben J. Tejeda, an eighth-grade teacher at Abraham
Kazen Middle School, has been named the South San Antonio
Independent School District Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013; and
WHEREAS, Since joining the Kazen faculty in 2007, Mr. Tejeda
has helped his students to achieve in the classroom and in
extracurricular activities, where he coaches the football and
basketball teams and has reestablished the school's membership in
the Junior Historians of Texas program; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tejeda earned his high school diploma from
Harlandale High School and graduated with a bachelor's degree in
history and political science from St. Mary's University; his
districtwide teaching honor follows his selection as the Kazen
Middle School Teacher of the Year, and he will now represent South
San Antonio ISD in the annual Trinity Prize for Excellence in
Teaching competition; and
WHEREAS, A gifted and highly respected educator who was
appointed chair of Kazen's social studies department in 2012, Ruben
Tejeda is helping to inspire a love of learning in his students
while providing them with a strong foundation of knowledge that
will serve them well throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ruben J. Tejeda on his selection as
the 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year for the South San Antonio
Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes
for continued success in his important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Tejeda as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
