H.R. No. 1293
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ed Swenson of Milano celebrated his 90th birthday on
February 26, 2013, and this occasion provided a welcome opportunity
to remind him of the high regard in which he is held by all who know
him; and
WHEREAS, A longtime educator and administrator, Mr. Swenson
began his career as principal of San Gabriel School, where he also
served as a teacher and coach; he went on to become a high school
principal in Thorndale before joining the Milano Independent School
District in 1966; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Swenson distinguished himself throughout his
15-year tenure as principal of Milano High School; in addition to
his administrative role, he coached football, basketball, and track
and taught biology, history, and government; and
WHEREAS, Following his service with MISD, Mr. Swenson served
as a principal in the Point Isabel, Pearland, and Harlingen
Consolidated Independent School Districts before returning to
Milano to retire in the early 1980s; and
WHEREAS, With the passage of another year, Ed Swenson may
reflect with pride on his wide-ranging accomplishments and on the
many significant contributions he has made in behalf of his fellow
citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby honor Ed Swenson on the occasion of his 90th
birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Swenson as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
