H.R. No. 1311 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, In recognition of his exemplary service, Pilot Point police officer Robert Powell received a 2013 Hometown Hero Award from the Lake Ray Roberts Rotary Club; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Powell served this nation as a member of the U.S. Army for 11 years before beginning his career in law enforcement; he has worked for the Pilot Point Police Department since 2005 in such positions as patrol and field training officer, manager of the property room, and detective with the criminal investigations division; he previously gained experience with the Aubrey and Marshall Creek police forces; and WHEREAS, The recipient of an advanced peace officer's certification, Sergeant Powell has also earned certification as a special investigator through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education; in 2011, he was promoted to sergeant, and soon after he was chosen to serve as interim chief of police; and WHEREAS, Robert Powell has distinguished himself with his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public safety, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and fellow citizens alike, and he may indeed take pride in his outstanding contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Powell on his receipt of a 2013 Hometown Hero Award from the Lake Ray Roberts Rotary Club and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Sergeant Powell as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
