 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rewarding life filled with meaningful
 achievements drew to a close with the passing of Rebecca Rinehart
 Dixon of DeCordova Bend on March 20, 2013, at the age of 73; and
 WHEREAS, The former Becky Rinehart was born in Fort Worth on
 April 5, 1939, to Mike and Ida Mae Rinehart; she graduated from Waco
 High School in 1957 and subsequently studied at Texas Tech
 University; while a college student, she married Ruel L. Dixon in
 1958, and they returned a decade later to the Waco area and were the
 devoted parents of two sons, Ruel and Michael; and
 WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of her mother, Mrs. Dixon
 was passionate about politics and served as president of the
 Republican Women's Club of McLennan County, as secretary of the
 McLennan County Republican Party, and as a delegate to many
 Republican state conventions and the Republican National
 Convention of 1972; she further distinguished herself on the
 Woodway City Council and the city's planning and zoning and parks
 commissions, and she became a valued member of the legislative
 community through her service as the district director for members
 of each chamber of the Texas Legislature until her retirement in
 2007; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Dixon started golfing to spend time with her
 husband and soon grew to love the sport herself and to become an
 accomplished golfer in her own right; she competed in the Women's
 Texas Golf Association state championship and spent several years
 on the board of directors of the association, eventually becoming
 its president in 1988; she also volunteered to help administer golf
 tournaments and served as a rules official at many events; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, this accomplished woman opened a
 children's clothing store, earned a realtor's license and sold
 houses, and managed the women's merchandise at a number of golf pro
 shops; while she had many interests, she treasured her husband,
 children, and grandchildren above all; and
 WHEREAS, The enthusiasm that Becky Dixon brought to each of
 her endeavors was an inspiration to all who had the good fortune to
 know her, and she will long be fondly remembered and deeply missed;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Becky Dixon and extend
 sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her husband,
 Ruel L. Dixon; to her son, Michael Dixon, and his wife, Jane; to her
 grandchildren, Grant and Natalie Dixon; and to her other relatives
 and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Becky
 Dixon.
