H.R. No. 1356
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Dallas 2024 Committee has initiated planning for
the establishment of a community-wide sports program based on the
ideals of the Olympics in preparation for making a bid to host the
Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games; and
WHEREAS, A grassroots organization, the committee was formed
by area Olympians, business leaders, and other interested citizens;
the members are committed to involving the community in the goal of
initiating an Olympic bid; and
WHEREAS, The Metroplex is known for its wealth of world-class
sporting facilities, including Cowboys Stadium, the American
Airlines Center, Gerald J. Ford Stadium, the Dr Pepper StarCenter,
and FC Dallas Stadium; building on those strengths, the committee
members seek to promote the Dallas area as an Olympic site, and they
envision the games as a boon to the region's infrastructure as well
as to its economy; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the exciting prospect of hosting the
Summer Olympics, the members of the Dallas 2024 Committee have
demonstrated true community pride and an exceptional spirit of
civic engagement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby commend the members of the Dallas 2024 Committee
for their noteworthy efforts to bring the Summer Olympic and
Paralympic Games to Texas; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the committee as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
