H.R. No. 1426
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend received
three prestigious awards at the 16th annual Texas Workforce
Conference in Grapevine; and
WHEREAS, Led by president and chief executive officer Ken
Trevino, WFSCB provides locally designed, market-driven workforce
development initiatives for businesses and residents of a 12-county
region in southeastern Texas; and
WHEREAS, During the 2012 Workforce conference, WFSCB was
presented with the Service to Business Award for its soft skills
training curriculum entitled "Career Ready Workforce
Certification," the Workforce Investment Act Adult and Dislocated
Worker Employment Related to Training Incentive Award, and the
Claimant Reemployment Performance Incentive Award; monetary prizes
that accompany these honors will fund future WFSCB services and
programs; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Workforce Commission also honored two
businesses that collaborate with WFSCB; Bay Ltd.--A Berry Company
received the Employer of the Year Award for working with WFSCB to
recruit job seekers interested in the petrochemical industry, and
Sterling Personnel, which utilizes WFSCB's services and space to
train and hire new employees, received the Local Employer of
Excellence Award; and
WHEREAS, Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend ensures that
employers and workers have the skills and resources necessary to
remain competitive, and the organization has earned distinction for
itself and its staff with its commitment to strengthening the
prosperity of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Workforce Solutions of the Coastal
Bend on its statewide recognition from the Texas Workforce
Commission and extend to the organization and its partners sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
