 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The year 2013 marks the 90th anniversary of the
 founding of St. Patrick Cathedral School in El Paso; and
 WHEREAS, Established by the Sisters of Loretto at the Foot of
 the Cross in 1923, St. Patrick Cathedral School has provided
 generations of area youth a strong educational basis in a welcoming
 and supportive environment; originally serving 220 students in
 first through seventh grades out of the community center, the
 school moved to its present location in 1938 and now hosts
 prekindergarten to eighth grade classes; this place of learning
 emphasizes a holistic approach to education that develops
 children's spiritual, intellectual, and physical development; and
 WHEREAS, Over the years, the school has benefited from the
 leadership of many individuals, mainly from the Sisters of Loretto
 until the first layperson was appointed principal in 1976; today,
 that tradition of service is continued by principal Liliana Esparza
 and assistant principal Elizabeth Carreon; and
 WHEREAS, For nine decades, St. Patrick has equipped thousands
 of young Texans with a strong educational foundation, and it is
 indeed a pleasure to recognize the school at this point in its rich
 history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the 90th anniversary of St. Patrick
 Cathedral School and extend to its administrators, faculty, staff,
 and students sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
