H.R. No. 1500
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Andy Dang, an outstanding student at A. C. Jones
High School in Beeville, has been named a recipient of the Joe
Barnhart Scholarship, and he truly merits special recognition for
this prestigious honor; and
WHEREAS, Established by the Joe Barnhart Foundation in 1998,
the scholarship is a $30,000 award, to be paid over a four-year
period, that assists Beeville Independent School District high
school students who are pursuing postsecondary education; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dang is ranked third in the junior class at
A. C. Jones, and he carries a demanding course load that includes
many advanced placement and dual-credit courses; he plans on using
the scholarship to study biomedical sciences at The University of
Texas at San Antonio or at Baylor University, and he hopes to become
the first person in his family to graduate from a four-year
university; and
WHEREAS, By demonstrating talent and commitment in his
studies, Andy Dang serves as a positive role model for his peers,
and he may indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Andy Dang on being awarded the 2013
Joe Barnhart Scholarship and commend him for his impressive
achievements as a scholar; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Dang as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
